WELCOME to the homepage of the U3A Network Canterbury.
U3A is the shortened form of University of the Third Age. We are constantly being told that retired people should exercise, eat a healthy diet and stimulate the mind. The third age of life is seen as an opportunity for learning, listening and understanding and this means joining with others that now have time and think the same way, throughout New Zealand and the world. Just because you are older doesn’t mean that you have finished learning.
The Canterbury Network of U3A clubs invite people to enjoy the company of others in on-going learning within an informal and friendly atmosphere. at the different groups operating throughout the province. Learning topics are selected and planned by each of the committee and suggestions from members. Topics are varied and include world affairs, special research, health, and others that are topical in our city, towns and local community.
Each U3A is independent and has their own way of presenting their members with learning & social opportunities. To find out more about the organisation internationally, try www.worldu3a.org
Become a life- long learner by taking a brochure to see about a group you could join or talk to some of our members today.
The U3A movement aims to encourage an active retirement for women and men in their 'third age' by providing for their cultural, social, physical and intellectual interests. Members are people wanting to widen their interests by getting involved in life-long learning opportunities of all kinds and to share activities in an informal friendly atmosphere.
